What happens to the time left at the end?
It is reported rather than filled. A slot that would run past the window is dropped — a 20-minute appointment in the last 10 minutes is not a 10-minute appointment.
How does a gap change the count?
Each slot starts one slot length plus one gap after the one before. From 09:00 to 17:00, 60-minute slots with no gap give eight slots. Add a 10-minute gap and only seven fit.
Can the window run past midnight?
No. The end has to be later than the start on the same day. A window that crosses midnight gives no slots, so plan a night shift as two windows.
