What if my two timestamps are in different units?
The page spots it from the digit counts and tells you. It will not report a gap of fifty thousand years. Mixed units are the usual cause of a wild duration in a log.
Is subtracting timestamps safe across daylight saving?
Yes, fully. Unix time has no zones and no daylight saving. The gap between two timestamps is the exact number of seconds that passed. That is why you should work out durations from timestamps, not from local times.
